Louise Michaud, Textile Artist
Throughout the years the common thread in all my art work has been a focus on humanity and those emotions that make us—human. It is my desire to capture those uniquely human moments in time.
Coming from a long line of hat makers, seamstresses, quilters, knitters and needle workers, my best artwork has always included a fibre/textile component.
Textiles are important throughout our lives, something we hold close, from that first blanket we are swaddled in at birth, the clothes we wear throughout our lives, to the cherished favourite sweater of a loved one now gone. No day passes without our contact with fabrics. Fibre, textiles and the processes related to them are the medium I want to continue to explore to express my deep interest in human emotion.
